Bloggers — they feature content on everything from gardening and parenting to technology and fitness — but they actually are proving to be a powerful force in the brand space. Foodie blogger “Food Babe” has recently been getting some heat about her proclamations against big brands who are filling our bodies with “toxins.” She speaks out against companies like Monsanto and Starbucks and thousands have become loyal followers. Someone as influential as her can really sway consumers one way or another. Brands should not dismiss the power of bloggers. Studies show that people value trusted recommendations from family and friends over any other form of communication. As a trusted source and “virtual friend” — if you will — to many, a simple brand shout-out or Instagram feature could do your brand a ton of good!
