If you are reading this, I am assuming you survived the throngs of Black Friday Shopping… but the shopping is not over yet!  Today we celebrate two of our favorite past-times: shopping for deals and surfing the web.  You guessed it, it’s Cyber Monday!  This digital day has consumers across the globe scouring the web for deals from the comforts of their couches via their laptops, to the 30 minute lunch-breaks that they have via their smartphones.  Digital is truly changing the face of holiday shopping and in the U.S., online holiday spending is expected to grow 11% this year.  In fact, over 50% of Black Friday shopping is driven by digital marketing efforts and e-commerce sites.  What’s interesting to note is that despite the fact that we are believed to be a a “need-to-have-it-now” society, a Razorfish research report indicates that consumers actually get more excited waiting for goods purchased online to come in the mail, than they do buying goods in a brick-and-mortar retail store. “Digital Dopamine” is a real thing!  Do you ever get a surge of excitement when you hear the ping of a text message come through your phone?  Well so do 62% of people in the U.S. and Brazil.  A Forbes puts it, “the flirtation of delayed gratification is a huge opportunity for marketers to explore in 2015.”
