Making Conversation: Laurie & Allison

Welcome to the first “Making Conversation” interview session with Laurie Patrei and Allison Amato. Check out the dialogue below!

How long have you been at Conversation and what is your position?
A: I’ve been at Conversation for 5 months and I work in the Client Services Department. I’m an Account Executive working in social media in what we call the realm of ChatLab.
L: I’ve been with Conversation for almost a year and I head up Corporate Communications which basically deals with all of our internal communications and all of our Conversation-related external communications, like press releases and blogging and all that stuff.

If you weren’t in your current position, whose position in the agency would you next want to have?
A: I would say it comes down to either being Frank, the Founder of the company, or I might want to be part of the BD Team – I think it’s kind of fun getting into all the brainstorming for clients that we want to work with and coming up with new ideas for new projects and campaigns. I just think it’d be really fun to be move involved in that.
L: I think that I would probably take Frank’s job as well since he obviously has his hands in everything and gets to work with all the teams and help out with all aspects of a project from beginning to end…
A: Exactly and OK the purchase of confetti cannons and boats and all that fun stuff…

What’s your biggest pet peeve?
A: My biggest pet peeve is when technology fails me – when things that should work just don’t! That really drives me crazy because I don’t understand it very well…

What’s your favorite YouTube video?
L: My favorite YouTube video is one that I was just shown the other day it’s called “Bike Lanes” and it’s basically about a bike rider who gets a ticket for not riding in the bike lane because there was something in the way, so he films this video of him basically saying, “alright, if you want me to ride in the bike lane no matter what happens, I’ll do it.” So the whole video is him riding in the bike lane and trying to overcome obstacles, so there’s like a big wagon in the way and he just shows himself riding into it and falling down. And at the end – after hitting a bunch of things – there’s a cop car in the bike lane and so he has a video of himself riding into the police car and falling on the police car and basically like, it’s a parody on the fact that you can’t always ride in the bike lane… and it’s just kind of making fun of the  cops for giving him a ticket.

What’s the last concert you’ve been to? (We all know you love BoyBands!)
A: I’m SO glad you asked this question… I just went with my sister recently to see NKOTB and BSB in concert. BEST CONCERT EVER, EVER. I highly recommend that you go check them out – it was really fun – and we were surprisngly not the oldest people there so I felt good about that.
L: Sounds awesome….

If you could have any superhero power, what would you want?
L: I think I would definitely want to be invisible – just because I think it’d be fun to play a fly on the wall in different instances :)
