Stupid Apps That Make Money: Trends, Uses, Case Studies

We’ve all had the urgency of going to the App store on our smart phones and look for apps that might interest us. Usually a lot of run across some apps that seem very stupid, and we actually download them. Also, just because an app has a price tag on it, doesn’t mean that it’s a good app, some paid apps are just as bad, if not even worse than the free ones. To make it easily avoidable, just do your research and read reviews; please don’t download blindly.
To make it easier on you all, I personally checked out some of these types of apps. Now, let’s take a look at some of the best of the worst (#oxymoron):

Taxi Hold Em

This free app whistles for you, and flashes the taxi sign while you hold it in your hand. Decent concept overall, but there is a lot of flaws with this; first, you are holding a flashing taxi sign on a 3” screen in your hand, like it would really make a difference when a cabbie is driving around 35 mph. Secondly, imagine holding your phone trying to hail a cab, and that said phone is making noise and is blinking, drawing attention to anyone around you… I’m sure you’ll get robbed easily, especially in NYC.

As one of the most downloaded apps in the App Store, iFart lets you select from a variety of different farts so that you and your friends can enjoy some potty humor. Sadly that fun will probably last a few minutes, where you will then proceed to go on with your life $0.99 poorer. It honestly is a waste of money… my recommendation? If you want someone to release ungodly bowl movements for a dollar, pay the homeless man down the street.
