Text Marketing; A New Era

Up until now, cell phone carriers have been doing an excellent job of protecting us from hackers – they mastered protection of short code spam messages to protect us from messages like, “Text Football to 72404 for latest football news!”

Unfortunately, it seems that hackers have finally found a way to sneak by.  We recently received the spam message below… this time, from an actual phone number.

Frank.Cell

If you think about it, this “advancement” in text spamming is a lot like it was with email spamming -¬† the earliest spam emails were successful because people opened everything that came their way! Now, we have designated folders to sort through our emails and put hackers into a special ‚ÄúSpam‚Äù folder.

Will we have to develop a way to do this on cell phones? Whatever the solution, this new phase of text spamming will certainly lead to a challenge for the industry.
