Have Some Time to Kill? #WatchPaintDry

After much speculation surrounding Periscope and whether or not people would actually tune-in to live streaming of content, it turns out they will watch just about everything, including paint dry!  Glidden Paint created a Periscope account and decided to give it a whirl for a new promotional effort.  They launched a video of a man painting a wall dark blue.. then then left the camera rolling as it faced the now wet, blue wall.  Their message to viewers read, “Tweet @glidden_paint w/#watchingpaintdry for a chance to win $3,000 & free paint!”  and as of 3:30 PM on Thursday May 14th, 85 people were actively watching this paint dry.  Marketers certainly should not dismiss this new social media and the power that it holds.
