Tweets Now Available to Search
Yesterday, Twitter announced that they have finally indexed their full archive of about half a trillion public messages. Since 2012 the company would index only top posts for about a week at a time. The new index is close to 100 times larger than what was previously saved and available for public view.
As Twitter search engineer Yi Zhuang noted in a blog post, users will be able to pull up “comprehensive results for entire TV and sports seasons, conferences (#TEDGlobal), industry discussions (#MobilePayments), places, businesses and long-lived hashtag conversations across topics, such as #JapanEarthquake, #Election2012, #ScotlandDecides, #HongKong, #Ferguson and many more.”
This search functionality will roll out in the next few days.
